Ava W - Developer Journal
Week 23
Lecture
Additionally, we had a lecture from Max Elkins. He works for the Raspberry Pi Foundation and was able to give a good insight into his work. I found it particularly interesting to hear about his first job and the company he worked for. This allowed me to research into the company for my industry folder with a better insight into local companies. He also introduced different job roles within the creative tech industry, allowing me to discover more opportunities post-graduation.
Workshop
This week, I completed the machine learning task that I had started earlier, which involved training and testing a model to recognize specific image labels. It was rewarding to see the project come together and to test it successfully using real-time input. Alongside this, I dedicated time to developing my Industry Folder, organizing research and reflecting on insights gained from previous activities and visits. I also took part in an Arduino workshop, where I was introduced to the basics of building circuits using LEDs. During the session, I practiced writing code to control the LEDs, which helped me understand the relationship between hardware and software. The hands-on nature of the workshop made the learning experience engaging and gave me more confidence in working with physical computing components.
