Week 28

This week was both productive and reflective as I wrapped up several tasks and began preparing for the end of the academic year. One of my main accomplishments was completing my technology research essay, which focused on data bias in society. After weeks of gathering sources, analysing the issue, and refining my arguments, it felt rewarding to finish the final draft. The topic opened my eyes to the subtle yet significant ways in which algorithms and data systems can reinforce existing social inequalities like sexism and racism.

I also had an individual tutorial to go over my essay progress and final draft. The feedback I received was constructive and reaffirmed that my structure and analysis were strong. It was helpful to have a one-on-one discussion to clarify a few points and ensure I had addressed all criteria before submitting the final version.

In addition to the essay, I finished all other outstanding projects across my subjects. Completing everything ahead of the final deadline gave me some breathing room and allowed me to focus on organising my final submission materials. I compiled everything into my final folder, making sure that all the necessary components were included and properly formatted.

As part of our end-of-year requirements, I also wrote a reflection summary. In it, I looked back at my growth over the past year, both academically and personally. It was a valuable exercise that helped me recognise how much I’ve developed in terms of research skills, and practical work. I also outlined some goals and plans for next year, including areas I want to improve in and topics I’d like to explore further. This will help me stay focused over the summer as I have something to work towards next year.

Overall, it felt like a strong way to end the term. I’m proud of the work I completed and feel prepared for the next stage of my academic journey.
